1Y(It;S t= NONEi: N+N V, I +J r.
order issued by the district on this continuing
contract. The scope of work included a new
"drop off' roadway to help with increased volume
of traffic during "drop off /pick up" times for
students. The new roadway will include a 25'
roadway with a roadside swale and dry retention
area. The project's stormwater management will
be handled with dry retention and a roadside
swale to meet the water quantity and water
quality treatment volume requirements for the
limits of construction.
Miscellaneous Neighborhood Improvement
Projects ® Ft, Lauderdale, FL Project
Engineer for numerous Neighborhood
Improvements jobs throughout Broward County.
Designed and modeled the drainage for these
neighborhoods using ICPR and provided
improvements using exfiltration trenches and
outfali structures into existing drainage systems.
The potable water and fire flow was designed
using Watercad to maintain the required flows
throughout the neighborhoods. Lift stations
were designed for the sanitary sewer. In
addition cost estimates were provided to
Broward County and the necessary permits
were obtained.
Hollywood Firefighters Union Hall
Hollywood, FL (2007 -2008) Project Engineer
for new Hollywood Firefighters union hall.
Project scope included design of the drainage,
water and sanitary sewer for the new c.
Drainage was designed with a series of
interconnected pipes and exfiltration trench
overflowing to a retention area. Since there was
no existing sanitary sewer around this site, a
septic tank was designed to collect the sewer.
Permits were obtained through the City of
Hollywood, Broward County EPD, and the
Broward County Health Department.
Miami Dade County Public Schools, State
School SS -1 New Senior High School for
Medical Technology, Homestead, FL - Ms.
Ross was the project Engineer for this Miami
Dade Public School. The project consisted of
converting an existing Homestead Hospital to a
new senior high school. This project is striving
to achieve LEED gold certification with a green
roof. The paving grading, drainage and utilities
will be redesigned. Major renovations will be
Melissa R. Ross, NIECE
Principal -in- Charge
done for the first and second floors of the
existing building.
The School District of Palm Beach County:
Whispering Pines Elementary School, Boca
Raton, FL Project Manager for the Elementary
School in Boca Raton, Florida. Ross.
Engineering was contracted to design the
drainage, utilities and permitting for the new
cafeteria and kitchen expansion as well as the
proposed two story classroom addition. The
stormwater system was designed to be handled
with dry retention and exfiltration trench to meet
the water quantity and water quality treatment
volume requirements for the limits of
construction. The retention will be
interconnected with catch basins that tie into the
existing drainage system. In addition to the site
work for the new expansion, Ms. Ross designed
additional drainage for the existing sidewalk that
was having frequent flooding problems. The
proposed water, fire and sanitary sewer were
designed to connect in the existing adjacent
utilities. Since the proposed expansion will be
constructed over an existing force main, the
force main and new manhole will be relocated
around the new building.
Broward County School Board - Colbert
Elementary School, Hollywood, FL Ross
Engineering was contracted to design drainage,
utilities and permitting for the new 2 story
administration, cafeteria, and classroom building
as well as the new playfields and walkways. As
Project manager for this project, Ms. Ross
designed the drainage system using exfiltration
trenches, retention areas and a storm tech
system. The water, fire, and sanitary sewer
connected into the existing system that was
designed in the first phase of this school. These
utilities were calculated and verified for capacity
and pressure of the existing system. This
project incorporated many different utilities
within a very small area, therefore extensive
coordination between Ms. Ross and the
Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Engineer
was performed.
21
