Minutes„ City Commission Regular Meeting <br />October 16, 1997 2 <br />CITY LOGO CONTEST; Entries were presented to the Commission and <br />public. <br />CITY HALL SIGNAGE; Mayor Samson presented the sign content and design <br />for City Hall. It will be: Government Center, City of Sunny Isles Beach. The <br />city logo will also be part of the signage. <br />V. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS: <br />UNITED STATES FLAG FROM CONGRESSMAN SHAW; Mrs. Lauren <br />Morris, representing Representative from Congressman E. Clay Shaw <br />presented a United States flag to the City, which was flown over the United <br />States Capital for the City of Sunny Isles Beach. <br />CODE ENFORCEMENT MATTERS, TEAM METRO; Ms. Susan Salec, Team <br />Metro, the City's primary source of code enforcement, provided information <br />about services offered by Team Metro. Mayor Samson raised concerns about <br />newsracks, sandwich signs, marking the streets with the speed limit, and <br />possible malfunction of the computer device for the left turn signalization at <br />193 Street and Collins Avenue. There are additional concerns that Mayor <br />Samson will communicate privately to Ms. Salec. <br />As a member of the Florida Department of Transportation staff, Commissioner <br />Iglesias indicated that any signs on sidewalks will be removed by the FDOT <br />and he offered to advise the appropriate FDOT employee. He noted the <br />employee for FDOT that would oversee roadmarking. <br />Mayor Samson announced that the Sun City Motel will be demolished before <br />the end of this year. He asked Team Metro to clean up the garbage in the <br />rear. <br />Mayor Samson announced the purple motel will be repainted. <br />AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY; Mayor Samson presented a check from his <br />campaign funds to Jack Neustadt, representing the American Cancer Society. <br />1. Proclamation issued by the Mayor, congratulating Esther and Fred <br />Massimilla on their 11,000 mile journey by boat and return home to <br />Sunny Isles Beach; ACTION: The proclamation was presented to the <br />Massimillas. <br />
