r--- <br /> • <br /> "NNY iJl Fr <br /> j= City of Sunny Isles Beach <br /> -`_.— Personnel Policy and Procedure <br /> Policy Name OUTSIDE EMPLOYMENT <br /> Policy Number _ 214:1 <br /> Effective Date 10/1/04 <br /> Revision Date(s) 5/18/17 <br /> Prepared By, Title Human Resources Director <br /> Approved By, Title City Manager <br /> PURPOSE: <br /> To establish guidelines for employees who work in jobs outside their employment with the <br /> City. <br /> SCOPE: <br /> This policy applies to all City employees unless otherwise addressed in an employment <br /> contract approved by the City Commission. <br /> POLICY: <br /> It is the policy of the City to allow its employees to engage in outside work or hold other <br /> jobs, subject to certain restrictions as outlined below. <br /> PROCEDURE: <br /> 1) The City requires that employees' activities and conduct away from the job must not <br /> compete and conflict with or compromise its interests, or adversely affect job <br /> performance and the ability to fulfill all responsibilities to the City. This requirement, <br /> for example, prohibits employees from performing any services for customers on non- <br /> working time that are normally performed by City personnel. This prohibition also <br /> extends to the unauthorized use of any City tools or equipment and the unauthorized <br /> use or application of any confidential information or techniques. In addition, employees <br /> are not to solicit or conduct any outside business during paid working time. <br /> 2) Employees are cautioned to consider carefully the demands that additional work <br /> activity will create before requesting permission to seek or accept outside <br /> employment.
