S,.., --,..-,'N.c i <br /> 1= City of Sunny Isles Beach <br /> . 11 i. / Personnel Policy and Procedure <br /> Policy Name RETIREMENT <br /> Policy Number 218:1 <br /> Effective Date 10/1/04 <br /> Revision Date(s) 5/18/17 _ <br /> Prepared By, Title Human Resources Director <br /> Approved By, Title City Manager <br /> POLICY: <br /> It is the policy of the City to assist an employee in the transition from employment to <br /> retirement. <br /> PROCEDURE: <br /> 1) When an employee intends to retire from employment or enter the Deferred <br /> Retirement Option Program (DROP), it is the desire of the City to receive at least a <br /> three (3) month advance notice and, preferably, not less than three (3) months prior <br /> to the end of the fiscal year. <br /> 2) When giving notice, the employee should speak with his/her Supervisor, Department <br /> Head or the Human Resource Director. <br /> 3) Written notice of retirement is required. The City has prepared a form letter, which <br /> identifies the employee, retirement data, and age at retirement. This letter shall be <br /> turned in to the Human Resource Director. <br /> 4) Upon receipt of the notice of retirement letter, the Human Resource Director, or <br /> designee, is responsible for meeting with the employee to provide information on <br /> retirement procedures and benefits plan continuation. <br /> 5) Upon receipt of the notice of retirement letter, the Human Resources Director will <br /> notify the appropriate Retirement Plan Administrator at either the Division of <br /> Retirement at the Florida Retirement System (FRS) or at ICMA for those employees <br /> participating in the City's 401A retirement plan. <br /> 6) All separating employees are responsible for returning City property whether issued <br /> or assigned such; all matters must be settled before issuance of the final paycheck. <br /> CODING: Words strisken are deletions,words underlined are additions. <br /> 218-1 Retirement Page 1 of 2 <br /> 60 <br />
