SECTION 01458 <br /> <br />TESTING AND TESTING LABORATORY SERVICES <br /> <br /> <br />PART 1 GENERAL <br /> <br />1.01 SUMMARY <br /> <br />A. The CONTRACTOR shall retain the services of an Independent Testing <br />Laboratory to perform materials testing specifically indicated in the Contract <br />Documents and the ENGINEER may at any time elect to have materials and <br />equipment tested for conformity with the Contract Documents. <br /> <br />1. Cooperate with the laboratory to facilitate the execution of its required <br />services. <br /> <br />2. Employment of the laboratory shall in no way relieve CONTRACTOR's <br />obligations to perform the Work of the Contract. <br /> <br />1.02 RELATED REQUIREMENTS <br /> <br />A. Conditions of the Contract: Inspections and testing required by laws, <br />ordinances, rules, regulations, orders or approvals of public authorities. <br /> <br />B. Respective sections of specifications: Certification of products. <br /> <br />C. Each specification section listed: Laboratory tests required and standards for <br />testing. <br /> <br />D. Testing laboratory inspection, sampling and testing is required for, but not <br />limited to concrete work, rebar, asphalt mix, soil densities and compaction tests. <br /> <br />1.03 LIMITATIONS OF AUTHORITY OF TESTING LABORATORY <br /> <br />A. Laboratory is not authorized to: <br /> <br />1. Release, revoke, alter or enlarge on requirements of Contract Documents <br /> <br />2. Approve or accept any portion of the Work <br /> <br />3. Perform any duties of the CONTRACTOR <br /> <br />1.04 CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITIES <br /> <br />A.
