SECTION 02319 <br /> <br />TRENCHING <br /> <br /> <br />PART 1 GENERAL <br /> <br />1.01 SUMMARY <br /> <br />A. Furnish labor, materials, equipment, and incidentals necessary to perform <br />excavation, backfill, fill, grading, and slope protection required to complete the <br />piping work shown in the Drawings and Specifications. <br /> <br />B. The work shall include, but not necessarily be limited to: manholes, pits and <br />pipe, bedding, backfilling, fill and required borrow; grading and disposal of <br />surplus and unsuitable materials; and related work such as sheeting, bracing <br />and water handling. <br /> <br />C. Provide trench safety systems such as sheeting and bracing in accordance with <br />state and local regulations. <br /> <br />1.02 RELATED WORK <br /> <br />A. Structural Excavation Backfill & Compaction <br /> <br />1. Construct and maintain sheeting and bracing as required to support the <br />sides of excavations, to prevent movement which could diminish the width of <br />the excavation below that necessary for proper construction, and to protect <br />adjacent structures, existing piping and foundation material from <br />disturbance, undermining, or other damage. <br /> <br />2. Prevent voids outside of the sheeting, but if voids are formed they shall be <br />immediately filled and compacted. <br /> <br />3.
