C. Members that have bows, twists, knots, or other defects which make it <br />unsuitable for the intended purpose shall be rejected. <br /> <br />1. Plywood shall be exterior DFPA, three-quarter (3/4) inch minimum thickness, <br />with faces in good condition. <br /> <br />2. Lumber shall be #2 short leaf Southern Pine. <br /> <br />a. Beam bottom forms shall be one and one-half (1-1/2) inch minimum <br />thickness. <br /> <br />3. Rough hardware shall be galvanized including bolts, anchors, nails, plates, <br />and inserts. <br /> <br />a. Bolts shall be of this size and length as detailed and shall be three <br />quarter (3/4) inch minimum diameter where not detailed. <br /> <br />b. Bolts shall be provided with washers. <br /> <br />4. Ties shall be "snap" type, or threaded end, completely removable or other <br />approved type. <br /> <br />2.02 FORM ACCESSORIES <br /> <br />A. Form accessories shall be of a commercially manufactured type. <br /> <br />1. Form ties shall be so constructed that the ends, or end fasteners, can be <br />removed without causing appreciable spalling at the faces of the concrete. <br /> <br />2. After ends, or end fasteners of form ties have been removed, the embedded <br />portion of the ties shall terminate not less than 2 inches from the formed face <br />of the concrete that is exposed to wastewater or closed surfaces above the <br />wastewater and not less that 3/4 inch from the formed face of other <br />concrete. <br /> <br />3. Form ties in walls designed to retain liquids shall be provided with a water <br />seal at mid-thickness of the wall. <br /> <br />2.03 CHAMFER STRIPS <br /> <br />A. Chamfer strips shall be polyvinyl strips designed to be nailed in the forms to <br />provide a 3/4-inch chamfer at exposed edges of beams and interior rectilinear <br />structural columns. <br /> <br />1.
