Existing conditions do not relieve the CONTRACTOR from meeting these <br />requirements. <br /> <br />J RECESSES <br /> <br />1. Lay out and form, as required, recesses for door operators, closer hardware, <br />sensor plates, mats, and equipment. <br /> <br />K. BONDING AGENTS <br /> <br />1. Wherever a topping or other pour of less than 1 1/2 inches thickness is <br />required, a two-part epoxy bonding agent shall be used of a manufacturer <br />approved by the ENGINEER. <br /> <br />2. Do not use bonding agents for liquid retention structures slabs where grout <br />is to be the "topping." <br /> <br />3. Clean existing slabs prior to the topping pour to assure a proper bond. <br /> <br />4. Use steam and/or solvents if required. <br /> <br />5. This requirement also applies to grout addition in liquid retention structures. <br /> <br />L. COMPACTION <br /> <br />1. Place concrete, except for footings, in layers not over 12 inches deep until <br />compacted by internal vibrating equipment, supplemented by hand rodding <br />and tamping as required. <br /> <br />a. Do not use vibrators to move concrete laterally inside the forms. <br /> <br />b. Internal vibrators shall maintain a speed of at least 5,000 impulses per <br />minute when submerged in concrete. <br /> <br />c. Maintain at least one spare vibrator, in working condition, at the site. <br />d. Limit the duration of vibration to the time necessary to produce <br />satisfactory consolidation without causing segregation but in no case less <br />than 20 seconds per square foot of exposed surface. <br /> <br />e. Move the vibrator constantly and placed in each specific spot only once. <br /> <br />f.
