1) Dimensions shall be such that the gland can be used with the <br />standardized mechanical joint bell and tee head bolts. <br /> <br />b. Twist off nuts, sized same as tee head bolts, shall be used to insure <br />proper actuating of restraining devices. <br /> <br />c. The mechanical joint shall have a working pressure of at least 250 psi <br />with a minimum safety factor of 2:1 and shall be MEGALUG Series 1100 <br />as manufactured by EBAA Iron, Inc., or equal. <br /> <br />K. Alternatively, thrust restrained mechanical joints for ductile iron pipe and fittings <br />may be TR-FLEX as manufactured by U.S. Pipe and Foundry, Lok-Ring by the <br />American Ductile Iron Pipe Co., Locked Mechanical Joint F-127D or Super Lock <br />Joint by the Clow Corporation. <br /> <br />1. The restraining components, when not cast integrally with the pipe and <br />fittings, shall be ductile iron or a high strength non-corrosive alloy steel. <br /> <br />2. Tee head bolts and hexagonal nuts for restrained joints in pipe and fittings <br />shall be of high strength cast iron or alloy steel, with composition, <br />dimensions and threading as specified in AWWA/ANSI C111/A21.11, except <br />that the length of the bolts shall meet the requirements for the restrained <br />joint design. <br /> <br />3. For cut grooved retainers, the thickness of barrel left after grooving shall not <br />be less than the nominal wall thickness of equal sized non-restrained pipe <br />as specified here in above for the centrifugally cast ductile iron pipe. <br /> <br />4. The gasket and joint accessories shall be shipped in suitable protective <br />containers. <br /> <br />5. Each restrained joint and the pipe and fitting of which it is a part, shall be <br />designed to withstand the axial thrust from an internal pipeline pressure of at <br />least 150 psi at bulkhead conditions without reduction because of its position <br />in the pipeline nor from support by external thrust blocks. <br /> <br />6. Restrained joint pipe and fittings shall be capable of being deflected after <br />assembly. <br /> <br />L. Provide cement-mortar lining for Water Main and Stormwater Main ductile-iron <br />pipe and fittings in accordance with AWWA/ANSI C104/A21.4 and ANSI/NSF <br />Standard 61 for potable water contact. <br /> <br />1. The interior of the pipe shall receive the standard thickness of the protective <br />cement-mortar lining, unless otherwise specified. <br /> <br />2.
