BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT AND RELEVANCE TO THIS CONTRACT

Humiston & Moore Engineers (H&M) was selected by Collier County to
design, permit, prepare techcnial specifications, and provide construction
observation services and project certifications for the Doctors Pass Erosion
Control Project. Chronic erosion downdrift of the inlet had outpaced the
beach nourishment program in place and a more durable sustainable and
manageable solution was necessary. The project involves refurbisment of
the south jetty, construction of a rock mound breakwater with a detached
low profile groin, a spur off the south side of the south jetty at Doctors Pass
and the refurbishment of the small rock groin approximately 1000 feet south
of the jetty. The purpose of this project is to improve the longevity of the fill
placement on the beach south of the Pass through the use of low profile
erosion control structures. The structures are designed to release sand to
the south over time, the design considers future periodic sand placement
within the project area from the long term maintenance
dredging of Doctors Pass currently being dredged at
apprximate 4-year cycles.

Project Tasks Included:
Regional Model study
Sediment Budget
Inlet and Nearshore Processes Modeling
Long-term Inlet Evolution Modeling
Wave and sediment transport modeling
Analysis of erosion control alternatives
Construction Observation

Scope Included:
Alternatives Analysis
Design and Permitting
Contract Documents & Specifications
Construction Observation
Project Certifications
Project Compliance Monitoring

25.
