BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT AND RELEVANCE TO THIS CONTRACT <br /> <br />Humiston & Moore Engineers (H&M) prepared an <br />evaluation of submerged nearshore reef system for Palm <br />Beach County. The analysis reviewed several alternatives <br />to emergent structures and assessed their effectiveness in <br />reducing the wave energy along the beach. The analysis <br />considered various design elements considering design <br />criteria such as distance offshore, structures’ length, width <br />and depth. Several numerical models were employed to <br />evaluate the wave transmission over the reef system <br />alternatives and the interaction between the structures <br />and the current flow. Some of the numerical models used <br />included CMS-Wave, CMS-Flow, Bouss2d and an in-house <br />Beach evolution model NLINE.
