Immediately on delivery, inspect shipments to assure compliance with <br /> requirements of Contract Documents and approved submittals, and that <br /> Products are properly protected and undamaged. <br /> B. Provide equipment and personnel to handle Products by methods to prevent <br /> 1 soiling or damage to Products or packaging. <br /> 1.06 STORAGE AND PROTECTION <br /> 1 A. The Contractor shall furnish a covered, weather protected storage structure <br /> providing a clean, dry, non-corrosive environment for all mechanical equipment, <br /> valves, electrical and instrumentation equipment, and special equipment to be <br /> incorporated into this project. Storage of equipment shall be performed to allow <br /> easy access and be in strict accordance with the "instructions for storage" of each <br /> equipment supplier and manufacturer including weather/humidity protection, <br /> connection of heaters, placing of storage lubricants in equipment, blocking, or <br /> skid storage, etc. Corroded, damaged or deteriorated equipment and parts shall <br /> be replaced before acceptance of the project. Equipment and materials not <br /> properly stored will not be included in a payment estimate. <br /> B. Store Products in accordance with manufacturer's instructions, with seals and <br /> labels intact and legible. <br /> 1. Store products subject to damage by the elements in weather-tight <br /> enclosures. <br /> 2. Maintain temperature and humidity within the ranges required by <br /> manufacturer's instructions. <br /> 3. Store fabricated products above the ground on blocking or skids, prevent <br /> soiling or staining. Cover products which are subject to deterioration with <br /> impervious sheet coverings, provide adequate ventilation to avoid <br /> condensation. <br /> 4. Store loose granular materials in a well drained area on solid surfaces to <br /> prevent mixing with foreign matter. <br /> 5. All unlabeled or improperly labeled materials shall be removed from the <br /> project site. <br /> C. All materials and equipment to be incorporated in the work shall be handled and <br /> stored by the Contractor before, during, and after shipment in a manner to <br /> prevent warping, twisting, bending, breaking, chipping, rusting, and any injury, <br /> theft or damage of any kind whatsoever to the material or equipment. <br /> D. Cement, sand and lime shall be stored under a roof and off the ground and shall <br /> be kept completely dry at all times. All structural and miscellaneous steel, and <br /> reinforcing steel shall be stored off the ground or otherwise to prevent <br /> accumulations of dirt or grease, and to minimize rusting. Brick, block and similar <br /> masonry products shall be handled and stored in a manner to reduce breakage, <br /> chipping, cracking, and spalling to a minimum. <br /> e05/08 01600-3 05-4893 <br />
