The conduit trench will need to avoid conflicts
with other existing utilities including water mains, sewer mains, gas mains, and drainage pipes. Our team
includes a subsurface utility locate firm, Keith & Associates that will work with the design team to provide
Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) support by utilizing the ASCE Standard 38-02 – “Standard Guidelines
for the Collection and Depiction of Existing Subsurface Utility Data” during the field and office operations
for all utility projects. This support will come in different forms such as Records Research, (Quality Level
“D”), Utility Designation (Quality Level “B”) and Utility Locates (Quality Level “A’’).

It is the philosophy of our team to avoid all utility impacts wherever practical. If SUE, quality levels are
required, it will be utilized to resolve these conflicts. If the utility conflict cannot be avoided, then we will
coordinate with the utility company to determine if the utility can be protected, adjusted or must be
relocated. Therefore, we will direct the subsurface locate firm to obtain soft digs and-or identify pipes
using Ground Penetrating Radar at specific locations to identify the location of other underground pipes.
