BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT AND RELEVANCE TO THIS CONTRACT (Include scope, size and cost) <br />The Singer Island neighborhoods are older neighborhoods <br />with aging infrastructure. The City desires to improve the <br />basic services in these neighborhoods. They are near the <br />intracoastal waterway with many of the homes being <br />waterfront and all of the drainage discharging directly into <br />those waters. The City plans to replace the drainage <br />within the road rights of way with new drainage pipes that <br />include exfiltration trenches so that some water quality <br />can be provided. Also, the water mains and sewer force <br />mains will be replaced. The gravity sewer lines and <br />drainage outfall pipes will be lined. <br />This effort includes full reconstruction of the entire <br />pavement within the right of way. Since much of the <br />existing roadway network was constructed very flat, our <br />design includes a full roadway Profile Grade Line design. This effort was completed with cross sections at each driveway <br />to confirm that the project will not result in drainage that flows from the right of way towards a home. Additionally, a <br />valley gutter will be installed; therefore, our design will improve not only the water quality for these neighborhoods, but <br />also the surface drainage. The drainage improvements will be permitted through the South Florida Water Management <br />District. There is no new impervious area being constructed and since there is no water quality being provided now, the <br />project will be a benefit to the ecology of the area. <br />The water and sewer improvements include a detailed look at the existing service lines and a Maintenance of Service <br />plan to direct the contractor to maintain water and sewer service to the home throughout construction. The utility <br />improvements will be permitted through the City Utility Department and the State of Florida Department of <br />Environmental Protection. <br />25.
