BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT AND RELEVANCE TO THIS CONTRACT (Include scope, size and cost) <br />The Grandview Heights neighborhood was platted in 1913 and developed <br />in the early part of the 20th Century (1900’s), and the City desires to <br />replace the watermains on three of the streets in this neighborhood. The <br />existing asbestos-cement water mains will be grout filled and abandoned <br />in place. New water service lines will be installed to the existing meters in <br />the sidewalks. <br />The existing pavement has been overlaid several times over the decades <br />and is underlain by an old roadway with a parabolic section. The project <br />includes a full depth reconstruction of the roadways. The City will also <br />replace the curb/gutters and sidewalks, which are cracking. Our design <br />includes a detailed review of the grading of the roadways, back of <br />sidewalks, and driveways to ensure that no drainage issues result after <br />construction. Additionally, it is anticipated that the new curb cut ramps <br />on sidewalks will be ADA compliant. <br />Most of the streets in this neighborhood include on-street parking which <br />is a highly desirable element for the residents in this community. <br />Therefore, our proposed typical section and signing and pavement <br />marking plan will include on-street parking to retain this element. <br />It is rewarding to assist the City in improving a historic neighborhood like <br />Grandview Heights where our public works efforts will make a positive contribution to the lives and well-being of our <br />neighbors. <br />25.
