@Zg
Craig A. Smith & Associates, Inc.
Engineers • Surveyors • Subsurface Utility Engineering
3D Subsurface Imaging • Utility Coordination
CAS and its sub -consultants acknowledge that any rates and/or fees for services rendered
will be negotiated in a standard continuing services contract with a minimal retainer, with
the city upon award. Projects deemed outside the standard scope of services or retainer will
be negotiated as hourly or lump sum. The engineering fees are based on construction costs
or through estimated hours per task. We propose to negotiate a lump sum cost for each
project prior to issuance of a work order. Our goal is to have no additional fees on any project.
Project deliverables will be included within the scope of services including survey base files,
30% engineering design submittal, 60% engineering design submittal, 90% engineering
design submittal, bid sets, construction permit sets and as-builts. Other deliverables include
cost estimates at the defined percentage submittals, value engineering, (including
specifications and contract documents), required studies and calculations, and project close-
out packages.
Communication
CAS' engineering and field crews are all fitted with the latest communication devices. All
devices are connected via satellite. All data is real-time transmitted to our office for
processing.
CAS proposes to provide the city links to our production at certain intervals when desired.
The city will be provided all project information electronically upon completion.
The CAS in-house staff will be directed by Stephen C. Smith, P.E., Senior Vice President and
will have weekly production meetings. We propose to conduct project meetings with the city
staff at least twice a month or more frequent as needed. Mr. Smith will be in direct
communication daily and weekly with city staff throughout the project duration. We also
conduct periodic project Quality Assurance / Quality Control review at certain milestones
with our QAQC Team and city staff.
Communication for a project of this size and scope is critical. CAS utilizes a public relations
liaison on staff that will coordinate between utility companies, homeowners, permitting
agencies and the city to make certain that the project remains on schedule.
Key Decisions
Stephen C. Smith, P.E., Senior Vice President and Project Director/Manager commits the
firm's financial, professional and technical resources to the city. Our office is located on
Glades Road at the Turnpike and is readily accessible to the City of Sunny Isles Beach.
7777 Glades Road, Suite 410, Boca Raton, FL 33434 • Ph: 561-314-4445 • www.craigasmith.com • LB3110 11
