The focus of this contract is the investigation of citizen’s requests related to pedestrian and bicycle safety and mobility. This contract includes a full time Engineer Intern at the District Six offices performing studies and field investigation and also developing work orders for maintenance to implement signing and pavement marking improvements such as the implementation of high emphasis crosswalks and “Turning Vehicle Yield To Pedestrians” signs. c. (1) TITLE AND LOCATION (City and State) SR 90/SW 8th Street from SW 142nd Avenue to SW 67th Avenue, FDOT, District Six (2) YEAR COMPLETED PROFESSIONAL SERVICES On-Going CONSTRUCTION (If applicable) N/A (3) BRIEF DESCRIPTION (Brief scope, size, cost, etc.) AND SPECIFIC ROLE Check if project performed with current firm The scope of this project includes the implementation of the first Adaptive Signal Control Technology project (ASCT) in Miami-Dade County at 29 signalized intersections along SR 90/SW 8th Street. Mr. Espino is responsible for the inventory and inspection of the existing signal cabinets, controllers, conduits and pull boxes to determine the need for equipment upgrade as part of the project. He is also responsible for the travel time data collection using Wifi devices as part of the before and after evaluation phase of the pilot project. Mr. Espino has performed extensive coordination with the Miami-Dade County Traffic Control Center to ensure a smooth transition from existing signal operation to operation under ASCT. d. (1) TITLE AND LOCATION (City and State) SR 5/US 1 from SW 19500 Block to I-95 Signal Re-timing and Monitoring, FDOT, District Six (2) YEAR COMPLETED PROFESSIONAL SERVICES 2016 CONSTRUCTION (If applicable) N/A (3) BRIEF DESCRIPTION (Brief scope, size, cost, etc.) AND SPECIFIC ROLE Check if project performed with current firm This project is part of the Districtwide Signal Retiming Contract with the D6 Traffic Operations Office. The tasks included daily monitoring of traffic conditions from using CCTV cameras at the D6 Sunguide Transportation Management Center. Monitoring was with the objective of the monitoring was to identify operational deficiencies and areas of recurrent congestion and to develop and implement signal timing changes to improve these conditions. The monitoring also included using Regional Integrated Transportation Information System (RITIS) data to monitor operational performance before and after the implementation of the signal timing changes. e. As part of this contract Mr. Espino completed over 850 fatal crash reviews to determine roadway contributory causes. Mr. Espino also performed safety studies districtwide and developed safety improvement projects at over fifty intersections and segments.
